***Short & Sweet Reviews are
short, quick reviews. These will mainly be used for series books where I
have already done full reviews on some of the earlier books or for
books that I feel will suffice with a quick review. These will not be
used for review requests or blog tours.

My thoughts:  I really enjoy the Private series and love that it takes us to so many different locations – this time to Johannesburg, South Africa. I think this is the first time I’ve read a book set there, but the problem with the BookShots is that they are so short that there is little in the way of extras, so there wasn’t much about the setting or culture that we normally would get from a full-length novel. Hopefully there will be another book involving the Private Johannesburg office were we get to experience this area.

As for the case itself, this one follows the typical BookShots pattern – it quickly jumps into the action, and moves at a pretty fast pace. The new characters are introduced, but we aren’t given much about their background and their is little in the way of character development as the story progresses. I like having a solid backstory on my characters because I like knowing what makes a character tick, what motivates them, and that’s usually my one complaint with these BookShots, but I know that going into them, so I’m ok that…it’s part of the series and I choose to read them.

I hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Joey or Johannasburg…I think there is definite potential here and I really would love to see this office, and these characters, be developed more fully!
