Meet the Mitchell brothers of Fool’s Gold, California—five gorgeous men who’ve left a trail of broken hearts in their wake…

Maya
Farlow learned the hard way to depend only on herself, so when she fell
too deeply for the bad-boy charms of Del Mitchell, she did the only
thing she could—she ran. Stunned, Del left Fool’s Gold to make his name
and fortune in extreme sports.

Now ten years later, Maya’s been
hired to promote her hometown’s new slogan, The Destination for Romance.
The celebrity spokesman is none other than Del, the man she dumped but
never forgot. Awkward!

Although Del’s not the type to hold a
grudge, he’s determined to avoid falling a second time for the woman who
broke his heart. He’s a daredevil, not an idiot. Trouble is, in all his
adventures, he never found a rush as exhilarating as Maya’s kiss. Maybe
risking his heart will prove to be the biggest thrill of all…

My thoughts: This
is the third book in this summer’s Fool’s Gold trilogy and it was a great story! I once again decided to listen to the story  on audio and I’m so glad I did – it was great and I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times, especially when Edie and Gladys were part of the scenes!!!

This is Maya and Del’s story. Maya and Del have a history – they dated ten years ago and were quite serious, but then Maya went running for the hills and never really told Del the true story. Oh, she gave him a reason for breaking things off, but what she told him wasn’t exactly the real reason. Now, back in Fool’s Gold, she finds herself working on a project with none other than Del – all thanks to Mayor Marsha…I tell you, nothing gets by this woman. She is always finagling things to get people together.  One word comes to mind when I think of her – puppet master extraordinaire!!!

I loved how, though forced to work together, Maya and Del confront their past early on so that’s not hanging over them. And it’s quite clear that even though they did end things years ago, the feelings never quite went away completely. These two just seem to complement each other, both professionally as well as personally. They just need to learn to work through their issues and not let the past dictate the future.

As in the previous book, Edie and Gladys are back and they are up to their usual antics. This time around they have managed to get themselves in a bit of hot water over showing naked butts on television and having the viewers try to guess who the butt belongs to. As Mayor Marsha says, “they have always been colorful” – I think this is the perfect description for them. They certainly provide comic relief in whatever scenes they are in and I always love when they make appearances in the books.

This was a great book and I am hoping, now that we have met the Mitchell brothers, that we will be getting the other brothers’ stories. There are five brothers in all – does that mean there will be at least four more books to this series, not counting the Christmas one due out in October?

Audio Thoughts: I’m so glad that Tanya Eby has continued to narrate this series – I just love the voices she gives to the characters and I love listening to her voice. I have to say I just might be jumping on the audio band-wagon for the rest of this series, provided Tanya narrates the rest. She makes it a fun audio experience!

I keep saying it but I really need to get back to this series! It sounds like so much fun and every review I've seen lately really makes me feel like I'm missing out! I'll definitely try for the audio version. It sounds like the narrator is really great.

I've got Kiss Me on the stacks and want to read it before Thrill Me. Love this series too.
