My thoughts:
This is the 2nd book in the North Falls series, Karin Slaughter’s newest series and it is definitely one of my favorites! It’s no secret I love everything this creative genius writes, but these two books are something special. While each book can be read as stand-alones, I highly recommend reading them in order as threads are carried through in true KS fashion and my favorite part, as in any series I read, is the character development, which even just two books in, has been phenomenal!
As I expected, this is a dark, twisted book and while I did figure something big out very early on, it in no way detracted from my enjoyment of this book. I was all in on everything else that was going on — and there was a lot of moving pieces here, believe me! It’s once again a layered, complex plot with an emotional component that again I wasn’t expecting but after last time I should have.
This one has it all — a small-town setting, family secrets, intense moments followed by WTF twists that leave you shocked and wanting more! And that ending…all the emotions were there and I couldn’t have loved it more! Except that I need more!!
Highly, highly recommend!!
