Summary:
In a beautiful world, murder is always ugly…
Recently returned from his last case in Ireland, elite forensic psychologist and criminal profiler Dr Alexander Gregory receives a call from the French police that he can’t ignore. It’s Paris fashion week and some of the world’s most beautiful women are turning up dead, their faces slashed in a series of frenzied attacks while the world’s press looks on.
Amidst the carnage, one victim has survived but she’s too traumatised to talk. Without her help, the police are powerless to stop the killer before he strikes again – can Gregory unlock the secrets of her mind, before it’s too late?
Murder and mystery are peppered with dark humour in this fast-paced thriller set amidst the spectacular Parisian landscape.
My thoughts:
This is the second book in L.J. Ross’s Dr. Alexander Gregory’s series and I am a fan! Not only did I just discover this author this year, but I found out that she has 3 series and I’ve started them all – you all know how I love my series!
This series just might be my favorite because our main character, Dr. Alexander Gregory, is a forensic psychologist and criminal profiler and I find that endlessly fascinating. This time we find Gregory being called to Paris during Fashion Week because some of the women are turning up dead and they need him to find out why!
This book, as was the case with the last one, was so interesting and really kept me guessing. And while we did learn quite a bit about Gregory in the first book, it becomes apparent there is still more to him that we do not know. That being said, while this book can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the first book, Imposter, first to really understand Gregory’s character.
I cannot wait to continue on not only with this series but also with Ross’s other two series!
Books in this series:
- Imposter
- Hysteria
- Bedlam
- Mania
- Panic
- Amnesia
- Obsession
