My thoughts:
The 13th book in the Cork O’Connor series that kept me fully engaged and invested. I love that each story continues to be wholly original and compelling. While each book could be read independently, I am loving reading the series in order, following the character development as the author meant it to be.
This time around, we find Cork’s children, now grown up, once again involved, which always makes for a more intense, emotional read for some reason. As is typically the case with these books, there are many different plots and threads here and it does take a while for them all to come together but I love the way this author is able to weave such a complex plot that just begs you to stay the course. I was fully invested, mainly because I’ve come to care so deeply for all these characters and I wanted to know how they all fared — of course I’m not going to give spoilers here! There is danger, moral crisis and so much more – it really is a gripping read that keeps you fully involved and at the same time, there continues to be character development on all our central characters. It’s my favorite part!

So glad David Chandler is back to narrate this one. He has narrated all the books to date and I love his consistency book to book.
