My thoughts:
When a book opens with a Dear Reader letter and the 1st line is: Could you live in a house that had been the scene of a murder? … how could I refuse? I mean, I live across the creek from the Amityville Horror House.
Catherine Ryan Howard is one of those authors I don’t even need to know what the book is about before I’m hitting that request button…and boy did I hit the jackpot with this one! I mean, a murder house, a creepy, atmospheric read and secrets galore…I loved every second of this story! One thing I’ve come to love about CRH’s books is that they do tend to be a slower pace, at least initially, but the payoff is always worth it! Once I started this one, I was all in…and while I will admit I did find myself on edge while reading, jumping at every noise, I have no regrets. I love how this one came together…each of the different threads. The twists kept me guessing … every time I thought I had things worked out, something new would be revealed to shake it all up.
