Summary:

From USA Today bestselling author Robert Swartwood comes another bone-chilling thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

While on vacation in Las Vegas, a businessman wakes up in a strange hotel room to find a dead woman in the bathtub.

Panicked, he runs. But before he can get far, a pair of detectives stop him.

Desperate, he tells them that he’s innocent. That there’s no way he killed the woman. That he’ll do anything not to go to prison.

That’s when they offer him a way out.

But there is no way out—as the detectives will soon learn.

Perfect for fans of Lee Child, Michael Sloan, and Robert Crais, The Killing Room races listeners from one revelation to the next at breathtaking speed.

My thoughts:

Don’t be fooled by this cover…this is such a great crime thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat right from the start!  Robert Swartwood may be a new name to me, but I’ve read books he’s published under his other name and absolutely loved them.

This was such a fast, thrilling read with many surprising twists. It’s a layered story and I loved how we slowly get to learn about our characters instead of everything being thrown at us at once. It makes for some uncertainty about them initially but that just adds to the intrigue. I also loved the Vegas backdrop…I haven’t read too many books set there and as it’s a place that’s always on, I find it really fit the story. Things are always happening and it kept me so engaged and constantly guessing what would happen next. But like a slight trick of the hand, everything switches up and nothing is as it first appears!

Right from the start I knew I was going to enjoy this one, but that ending…that is what completely sold me on it. I’m going to need that next book in the series NOW!!!

Do yourself a favor and pick this one up! It’s a fresh take on the crime thriller and it’s most definitely a binge-worthy read!

Audio thoughts:

I was fortunate to be sent the ALC of this one and was thrilled to see that Edoardo Ballerini was narrating it. He’s one of my favorite male narrators and he nailed the narration on this one! As if the story itself was engaging enough, listening to Edoardo bring it to life was just amazing.
