Month in Review: July 2023

Why is it that the summer months seem to go by so fast? I feel like the month just started and yet, here we are at the beginning of August already! July was a great month, reading-wise. I finished up the Will Trent series and am ready for the new book, After That Night, which comes out at the end of the month. I do already have a copy of it, so I’ll be getting to it sooner rather than later. Finishing up that series was one of my reading goals and now I need to decide what series to tackle next. Doing one series that I am behind on at a time is seems to work for me, so it’s something I am definitely going to continue.

Now if I can only work on getting my other books read as quickly, too, I’d be in good shape!

MY TOP 5 OF JULY:

***I saw this on a friend’s blog and really liked it, so I’m adding it to my monthly wrap-ups.

  1. Favorite book(s) of July – these books are the ones I absolutely loved and will be recommending to everyone. They will be staying on my shelf and might even be rereads at some point in the future.
    • Little Cruelties
    • Strange Sally Diamond
    • The Twenty
    • Just Another Missing Person
    • Broadway Butterfly
  2. Biggest Surprise of July: How quickly I read Broadway Butterfly – it’s a big book, but once I really got into it I could not put it down! It is fantastic and I highly recommend it!!! My review will be up soon.
  3. Biggest Disappointment of July: Nothing…I had a great month reading-wise.
  4. Favorite Part of Month – Participating in Celadon’s LFL book drop for The Connelley’s of County Down. I loved this book and loved that this was one of the books they selected for their LFL drop.
  5. 5 Books I’m most looking forward to reading next month:
    • Dark Corners by Megan Goldin – I am a huge fan of Megan Goldin’s book and this one brings back a beloved favorite character, Rachel Kroll. Out 8/8
    • The Great Transition by Nick Fuller Googins – This is a debut novel but I was drawn to it because of the climate fiction storyline…I am all about this right now!  Out 8/15
    • After That Night by Karin Slaughter – This is the next installment in the Will Trent series and I am so excited for this one! I spent this past year making my way through this series so that I was ready for this one and I am!!!  Out 8/22
    • Good Bad Girl by AliceFeeney – I am a huge Alice Feeney fan and have been anxiously awaiting this new one. Out 8/29
    • Girl in the Eagle’s Talons by Karina Smirnoff – The next book in Liz Salander series, with a new author. I have been a fan of this series since book one, and have read all the books, with all the author changes.  Out 8/29

So tell me, what was your favorite read of the month? What are you looking forward to reading in August?
