Summary:
Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse.

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?

My thoughts:

I still consider myself to be relatively new to Colleen Hoover’s books, having read only five of her books so far, and those being her more recent ones. But I have loved each and every one of them, even knowing I’m going to be emotionally wrecked by the end…and this one was no different!

This book is just heartbreakingly beautiful from start to finish, and even though the characters are way younger than I typically like to read, I still managed to fall completely in love with them. I loved that this book focused on one date that drew these two characters together and that their relationship wasn’t all flowers and sunshine. This was a messy, complex love affair that hurt and as the story evolved, that plot twist really does gut you, whether you guess it or not.

I loved the complexity of this story. This isn’t just about two young adults falling in love. It’s so much more than that. It’s about challenging someone when they aren’t living up to their full potential; it’s about finding that one person that can save you from yourself when you most need it.

I’m so glad my booksta-friend Crystal had a buddy read for this book this month…it’s been sitting on my shelf for way too long! I cannot wait to discuss this one tonight! And then I’ll be adding the rest of this author’s books to my tbr!
