In the course of eight consecutive #1 New York Times
bestsellers, millions of readers have discovered Harlan Coben’s
page-turning thrillers, filled with his trademark edge-of-your-seat
suspense and gut-wrenching emotion. In Fool Me Once, Coben once again outdoes himself.

Former special ops pilot Maya, home from the war, sees an unthinkable
image captured by her nanny cam while she is at work: her two-year-old
daughter playing with Maya’s husband, Joe—who had been brutally murdered
two weeks earlier. The provocative question at the heart of the
mystery: Can you believe everything you see with your own eyes, even
when you desperately want to? To find the answer, Maya must finally come
to terms with deep secrets and deceit in her own past before she can
face the unbelievable truth about her husband—and herself.

My thoughts:This is the first time I’ve read a Harlan Coben book and I have no idea why I waited so long…this was so good!!! I actually have one of his other books sitting on my shelf just waiting to be picked up and now I can’t to read it – especially if it’s anything like this one.

I have to say, I was totally fooled with this one…I was puzzled and intrigued right from the beginning and loved how it all played out. Well done Mr. Coben – you certainly had me fooled a number of times as I thought I had things figured out only to be fooled yet again as you threw in your red herrings!

There are secrets and the idea of whether or not to trust your own instincts that come into play in this book – all those things that I love and that get the plot moving. Plus this was an emotional read, too – add in the female point of view, who just happens to be dealing with PTSD and the death of her husband and it’s quite an intense read!

This is a fast-moving, clever mystery that keeps you hooked until the very end. I certainly plan on checking out the other works by Harlan Coban, and soon!

Audio thoughts:This was a great audio to listen to – it kept me on my toes and I thought January LaVoy did a great job with the voices. She was able to give each of the characters their own unique voice and kept the pacing spot on. I’ve listened to her before and enjoy her narrations!
