2016 Goals for Reading/Blogging/Fitness

I have done this the last 3 years, and it helped me
set myself up for the upcoming year. I think this will be a fixed
feature on January 1 (or close to) of each year I blog.

BALANCE: This is going to be my word of the year. I tend to get so focused on one thing to the exclusion of everything else and I really need to remember to balance everything in my life. I’m not just a book blogger, but I’m also a wife, a mom to 2 active chocolate labs, a fitness walker, yoga enthusiast, a crocheter, a baker…I need to make sure I make time for all these things I love to do!!!

Reading Goals:

*
I want to balance my reading – not just read those review books, but read the books I want…I have so many of my own books sitting on my shelves that I really want to read and this year I’m going to read them…I need to get better at balancing the review reads with my own reads.* For those review books I do agree to take on that have a
set review date, I am going to try to read ahead of schedule. This past
year I found myself reading them at the last minute and feeling a bit
frantic writing up the review – no more of that!!!

* I do want to challenge myself to read at least 1 classic this year…not sure which one yet, but that’s the only book I’m going to put down as a must…one classic!

Blogging Goals:

* Staying organized – I need to take the time to set up my blogging planner. I have an Erin Condren planner and now I just need to make use of it. I have lists upon lists, but it’s not really helping me…again that balance thing…taking the time to organize myself instead of feeling that I need to be doing something else.

* Stay up-to-date with my reviews. I got really behind last year and I don’t want a repeat of that! I do do a review of all the books I read, not because I have to, but because I want to, so I just need to keep on top of them. I also need to remember that for those books that aren’t review books – those reviews don’t need to be as in-depth as the others…short-and-sweet are fine!

Bookish Events:
* BEA 2016…TBD – this is still up in the air as of this moment, so stay tuned!
*
I do plan to attend author events near me, though. I love going to hear authors speak about their books and I love finding new book stores/libraries that host these author events.

*Try to visit more used bookstores around me…you never know what gems you’ll find and now that I’m building a dictionary library, I’m on the lookout for used dictionaries!!!

Fitness:

* I am once again participating with the #FITREADERS
group that Felicia over at The Geeky Bloggers Book Blog has
started…it’s fun having a group you report back to (even virtually) to
hold you accountable for your fitness goals!!!

* This year, Felicia and Jen, her co-host, have come up with a fun virtual race series – you do either a 5k or 10k each month…and if you do 10 by the end of the year, you get a medal. Not that I need the medal, but I think it’s such a fun idea and just the thing I needed to push me to do a little more…now I just need to find some races in my area!!!

* I need to start to include strength training/stretching into my regular fitness regiment!!!

I
have really come to enjoy blogging and look forward to this upcoming
year. Have you created any reading or blogging goals for the year?

Great goals! I love the virtual race idea. That sounds like lots of fun. I'm also on board with going to used bookstores. We have a really great one here and it's been calling my name lately. Good luck with your goals and have a great 2016!

Great goals and love your whole post. Sometimes it is hard to get balance especially when work commitments are heavy. Fitreaders is great and found that through you so much to be thankful for.
So good to say we want to do this and that, and I am thinking about my own goals and thinking I want to do this or that then I find myself wrapped up in a good book and ….
All the best I think you have a very good chance of achieving them.

I have chosen BALANCE as my goal-oriented word for the year, too. I fall into those traps you mentioned, focusing on one thing over another….good luck!

Balance is so important! I could use more of that myself. Best of luck with your fitness and blogging goals in 2016, Kristin! 🙂

Great goals. I totally need to add strength training into my routine. I've been saying that for almost a year. I need to meet my own goals! LOL Happy New Year!
