Author Meet & Greet: Jenny Milchman (Plus Giveaway!!!) – GIVEAWAY CLOSED

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of seeing author Jenny Milchman. She’s now on tour for her latest book, As Night Falls. I’ve already read this book and loved it…you can read my review here

The event was a little different than most of the usual author events I’ve been to as this one was a luncheon and wasn’t so much a book talk as it was a discussion on how to balance it all while never losing sight of your dreams. The event was sponsored by Sparta Books and held at Ristorante Il Porto on Lake Mohawk in Sparta, NJ. There were 16 women there and it such a lovely afternoon. The food was delicious and the company was great.

Jenny started the discussion off by discussing how the long road it took to get her books published and way she has handled that with raising her children. She talked about the many decisions she’s had to make with regards to her children, including deciding to take them on the road for her first book tour which lasted 7 months!

What was great about this event was that she didn’t want it to be one-sided where she did all the talking, nor was it geared just towards parents trying to balance it all. There were a few of us, me included, who were not parents, but still have plenty on our plates that we are trying to balance – our spouses, work, home, hobbies, etc. She left us with some things to think about while we ate our lunch and then resumed the conversation after while we had dessert. It was a great discussion amongst everyone.

I really enjoyed the afternoon and as part of the event, I left with a signed copy of the book. Because I already have a copy, which I was also able to get signed, you, my readers, will benefit as I now have 1 signed copy up for grabs…see below for details!!!

Me & Jenny at Il Porto Ristorante

Title: As Night Falls

Author: Jenny Milchman

Published: June 2015, Ballantine Books

Format: Hardcover, 384 pages

From the acclaimed author of Ruin Falls and Cover of Snow
comes a breathless new novel of psychological suspense about a dark,
twisted turn of events that could shatter a family—a read perfect for
fans of Gillian Flynn, Chris Bohjalian, and Nancy Pickard.

Sandy
Tremont has always tried to give her family everything. But, as the sky
darkens over the Adirondacks and a heavy snowfall looms, an escaped
murderer with the power to take it all away draws close.

In
her isolated home in the shadowy woods, Sandy prepares dinner after a
fight with her daughter, Ivy. Upstairs, the fifteen-year-old—smart,
brave, and with every reason to be angry tonight—keeps her distance from
her mother. Sandy’s husband, Ben, a wilderness guide, arrives late to
find a home simmering with unease.

Nearby, two desperate men
on the run make their way through the fading light, bloodstained and
determined to leave no loose ends or witnesses. After almost twenty
years as prison cellmates, they have become a deadly team: Harlan the
muscle, Nick the mind and will. As they approach a secluded house and
look through its windows to see a cozy domestic scene, Nick knows that
here he will find what he’s looking for . . . before he disappears
forever.

Opening the door to the Tremont home, Nick brings not
only a legacy of terror but a secret that threatens to drag Sandy with
him into the darkness.
