Rocky Monroe’s bad luck
is legendary. So it stands to reason that during a quick trip to New
York on behalf of the Cupcake Lovers’ forthcoming book, she winds up in
the arms of the one man she never wants to see again. So what if he’s
also the man she can’t stop dreaming about? Mouth-watering Jayce Bello
has always been Rocky’s biggest mistake, and she’s not going to let
history repeat itself … unless she gets a new taste of his delicious
kisses.

When Jayce Bello left Sugar Creek ten years ago, it was
the right thing to do—for him and for Rocky, his best friend’s little
sister. But one passionate night with gorgeous, reckless Rocky is enough
to prove that she’s the missing ingredient in his happiness. Now, with
scandalous secrets souring the sweetness of the Cupcake Lovers’ club,
Jayce needs to convince Rocky that their love is something to savor …

My thoughts:  This is the second in Beth Ciotta’s Cupcake Lovers series and I am really enjoying this series. The characters are fun, the romances are sweet and the town is just the kind of place I would love to visit!

I think what I love most about this series is that while the story is primarily about the two main characters – Rocky and Jayce in this case – there are still other story lines going on involving the other characters we have come to love. I loved the chemistry between Rocky and Jayce when we first met them in the previous book and so I was excited to know they were the focus of this book. I just knew there was more to their story and boy was I right! Their relationship is full of passion and steam – how could it not with their history? Of course, when you have two head-strong people, it’s also filled with angst and stubbornness, but that just adds to the overall dynamic of their relationship.

Once again, we get to see what the Cupcake Lovers are up to. I really love how this group is so charitable. This time around, they are focusing their efforts on raising funds for playground equipment for a local daycare center. I just love these women and lone man of the group and I really love hearing about the recipes they come up with!

The group is also moving forward with getting their book published, so camera crews are around to interview and catch moments on screen. This doesn’t sit well with one member, who prefers not to be interviewed or photographed – she’s very private and then ends up leaving the area without a word…I do hope we find out what’s going on with her…maybe in a future book?

There are also some other romances that are brewing that I hope we will see develop in future installments of the series. Plus, there are a few other story lines that have begun that I don’t think are quite done either…lots of potential for this series and I can’t wait to see how it all continues! This is what I love about reading series…getting invested in the characters and their lives!!!

Is there a series that you feel is like coming home with each new book you read?

Lately Brenda Novak's Whiskey Creek series feels like coming home. Also, Robyn Carr's Thunder Point series. I'll keep these books in mind!
