It’s Monday…What Are You Reading? (11.5.12)

It’s Monday What Are you Reading , hosted by Sheila, isthe perfect way
for me to
begin my week and allows me to
focus on what
needs to be read and to see what I
have or have not
accomplished the previous week.
I also enjoy
discovering new books by
visiting other participants
blogs.

What a week! We were very fortunate to make it through Hurricane Sandy with no damage and no loss of power. I stayed home all week, which was a good thing with the crazy gas lines. But poor hubby has been working long days – he does marine construction in NYC and has been helping out with pumping all the millions of gallons of water out of the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel. He and his guys have been scrounging each day to make sure they have enough gas to not only get themselves to work, but then to run the machines they need to get the work done. I really hope this gas shortage resolves itself soon – I’m going a bit stir crazy not wanting to use gas as we keep trading off cars – he drives one in to work and I take the other to fill up somewhere and then we switch cars the next day. I don’t mind waiting in the long lines – I have a book with me and the time goes faster!

On the other hand, I am getting lots of walking time in, which is good since I signed up to do a 3-day 50 mile walk in March for MS. I’m doing the walk with my mom and I am really looking forward to it.

Nice reading list for this week, though it did take me very long to get through Wolf Hall.

I hope you enjoy Wolf Hall. It really is a good book, in fact one of my favorites. You just have to get used to Mantel's writing style. That takes time, but once you do, you will see what all the hype is about. I see you got Stake and Eggs on your list and I have major book envy right now. I cannot wait until that one is released. Which is tomorrow, now that I think about it. Lol. Happy Reading!

I had started reading it a while ago and then put it aside b/c I got busy with other review books. I was enjoying it and need to get back to it soon!

I was lucky to get an early copy of Stake and Eggs – I just need to find time to read it!

I'm glad to hear that you are safe and sound after Sandy…it looked so scary. This is one of those times I'm glad to be a land locked Wisconsinite I suppose.

I recently finished The Lincoln Conspiracy..how are you liking it? I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Unfortunately the pictures do not do the damage justice – it is horrible!

I am only about a 100 pages into The Lincoln Conspiracy, but I am enjoying it.

Glad to hear you and yours are safe, the footage we've seen on Sandy in Australia looks horrific. It takes a lot longer than most people expect for resources and facilities to return to normal.
Hope you have a good week and happy reading 🙂

One of the best parts of this #IMWAYR meme is discovering new blogs like yours. I enjoy not only finding out what readers are reading but other ways they are living their lives. The walk in March sounds like it'll be a great experience!

I'm so glad you made it through the storm with no damage! It's interesting to see how many of us got through a few books last week in spite of everything.

Nice list! I am currently reading a wonderful mystery/historical romance titled, "Quest for the Lost Name" by George Makris. I definitely plan to check out some of the books from your list above once I am finished! Thanks for the great suggestions!
