Under the Christmas Tree

by Robyn Carr

When the folks of Virgin River discover a box of adorable puppies under
the town’s Christmas tree they call on local vet Nathaniel Jensen for
help. But it’s his budding romance with Annie McCarty that really has
tongues—and tails—wagging!

My thoughts:  This was a sweet holiday book, containing three novellas by three of my favorite authors. I picked it up because it contained the eighth book of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series, and since I had to get the whole book in order to read that one, I ended up reading all three.

I read Debbie Macomber’s Manning Sisters and Those Manning Men series quite a while ago, but they all came back as I read Silver Bells. This story focuses on Carrie Weston, the daughter of one of the Mannings. As a young girl, she set her mom up with the man she would end up marrying. Now, years later, she meets young Mackenzie and her father, and Mackenzie is all about getting her dad to find love again, and if he fell in love with Carrie, all the better!

In The Perfect Holiday, Savannah has just inherited her Great-Aunt Mae’s old Inn and moves there with her daughter. No sooner do they arrive and try to get settled in, than Trace arrives for his visit that he had promised Mae he would make at Christmastime. It seems as if Great-Aunt Mae is working a little magic from the grave. Will her pushes wind up working out, leading to a little romance and perhaps a marriage?

Finally, in Under the Christmas Tree, a litter of puppies are found under the great big Christmas Tree in the center of Virgin River. No one knows where they have come from and it just so happens that as they are being discovered, Annie is right there. The puppies are extremely young and almost frozen to death. They need to be nursed back to health before they can be placed and while Annie wants to help, having a business to run, she cannot devote the time. She can, however, help out here and there, which comes as a relief to vet Nate. As the two get the puppies healthy, sparks start to fly. Will there be a new couple around Virgin River?

I enjoyed all three novellas. They are full of romance and are all light reads. Even though I read them in the middle of the summer, it’s hard not to smile and share in the holiday spirit.

(I purchased this e-book.)
