Review: Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts

First line: As the clock ticked down on her senior year in high school, Laurel McBane learned on indisputable fact.

From the inside cover: Laurel McBane has always relied on her hands for support, especially when her dream of attending culinary school was almost ruined by her parents’ financial problems. Now Laurel is repaying the kindness of her friends by creating extravagantly luscious tiers of cakes and other confectionary delights that add the perfect touch to their clients’ weddings.

As for romance, Laurel believes in it – in theory. But she’s too low-key to appreciate all the luxuries that other women seem to  long for. What she does appreciate is a strong, intelligent man, a man just like Parker’s brother, Delaney Brown, on whom Laurel has had a mega crush since childhood.

But some infatuations last longer than others, and Laurel is convinced that the Ivy League lawyer is still out of her reach. Plus, Del is too protective of Laurel to ever cross the line with her, or so she thinks. When Laurel’s quick-silver moods get the better of her – leading to an angry, hot altogether mind-blowing kiss with Del – she’ll have to quiet the doubts in her mind to turn a moment of passion into forever…

My thoughts: This is the 3rd in Nora Robert’s Bride Quartet series and I loved it!!! Perhaps I have enjoyed these books so much because I read the first one on my honeymoon so I was quite familiar with the whole wedding planning chaos that can ensue…or maybe it’s because I am just a sucker for a good love story. Whatever it is, these books are quickly becoming my favorite Nora Robert’s series.

Savor the Moment is Laurel’s story. Laurel is the baker extraordinaire of Vows, the wedding planning business that the four childhood friends Parker, Emma, Mac and Laurel own. Laurel has carried a torch for Del since they were teens. To her frustration and annoyance, however, Del looks at Mac, Emma, and Laurel as sisters and seems clueless as to Laurel’s non-sisterly feelings. That is, until Laurel gets tired of Del’s brother act and kisses him during an argument. It was fun watching the journey that Laurel and Del’s relationship took from trying to figure out how to tell their friends to the “smex bet”. It was a perfect progression of friends to lovers and the insecurities that occur on both ends. Part of the reason why it worked, I think, is because readers had already gotten the chance to know and love Laurel and Del in the first two books and there was definitely some chemistry already smoldering. As with the prior books, the reader also gets glimpses into what is to come in the next (and final) book in the series  – Parker’s story. I will certainly be sorry to see this series come to an end.

(I purchased this book.)

I also loved "Savour the Moment" abd can't wait to read Parker and Mal's story.
