Summary:

There are no silent nights for Alex Cross, star of the Prime series, this Christmas. Someone is targeting Supreme Court justices, and Cross—and his family—are in the crosshairs too.

It’s time to put the guns down, Detective Cross. Even if you knew the way out of this place, we would catch you.

In Washington, DC, the vigilante group Maestro is killing U.S. Supreme Court candidates.

As Alex Cross leads the FBI investigation, his wife, Bree, and his best friend and Metro PD partner, John Sampson, go missing while on a dangerous quest to identify Maestro’s mastermind.

Alex has only three chances to save the people he loves

Number Find Bree and John.
Number Escape.
Number Survive.

If he fails, there will be no one left in the House of Cross.

My thoughts:

I was determined to get caught up with this series this year…and I did it – now I am ready for the book due out in November!! It’s crazy that this series is still going strong…32 books in and I still enjoy the series as much as I did when I first started it!

This was a fast-paced, thrilling read that took some unexpected turns. I loved seeing Alex working alongside Ned Mahoney of the FBI and Bree working with Sampson, though didn’t love seeing Bree and Sampson put in danger, though I guess that is only to be expected. In many ways, this book felt a lot like some of the earlier books and maybe that is because this was not written with a co-author but just by Mr. Patterson himself, as the earlier books were.

Of course, the book ended with a quasi-cliffhanger and I’m so curious as to how it will be continued in the next installment. There were also some good things that happened in the book, in terms of character development, as well that I’d love to see continue…but I also am worried for one character, too. And if you are a die-hard fan of this series, you know who I’m talking about. Have we almost reached the end of this series?
