Summary:

When a beloved wife and mother disappears, a luxurious condo building transforms into a potential crime scene, and the investigation begins: can the detectives find her before it’s too late?

Bryden and Sam have it all: thriving careers, a smart apartment in a luxury condominium, supportive friends and a cherished daughter. The perfect life for the perfect couple.

Then Sam receives a call at his office. Bryden—working from home that day—has failed to collect their daughter from daycare. Arriving home with their little girl, he finds his wife’s car in the underground garage. Upstairs in their apartment her laptop is open on the table, her cell phone nearby, her keys in their usual place in the hall.

Except Bryden is nowhere to be seen. It’s as if she just walked out.

My thoughts:

Shari Lapena is quickly becoming a must-read author for me. The last few books I’ve read by her have been so twisted and binge-worthy…exactly the way I love my thrillers to be, especially in the summer! ⁣

I love how brilliantly plotted these books are and this latest one is no exception. Every single time I thought I knew who was behind everything, I was proven wrong. Each and every character we meet along the way has a motive behind the crime and I loved that I kept pointing my finger at all of them…and for good reason. So many secrets and so many red herrings thrown in…this is what makes this book so clever!!! ⁣

With each book I read by this author, I fall more in love with her writing. She’s got the psychological thriller down to a science and I’m not complaining! ⁣

Audio thoughts:

When I saw that January LaVoy was narrating this, it was a no-brainer to grab the audio. She is one of my favorite audiobook narrators and her performance was spectacular! Her ability to give each character their own voice, using emotion and tension as needed and her pacing was spot on — this audiobook was amazing! ⁣
