Summary:
Now with a beautiful new series look, the iconic Miss Marple must investigate the case of a girl found dead in Agatha Christie’s classic mystery.
It’s seven in the morning. The Bantrys wake to find the body of a young woman in their library. She is wearing an evening dress and heavy makeup, which is now smeared across her cheeks. But who is she? How did she get there? And what is the connection with another dead girl, whose charred remains are later discovered in an abandoned quarry?
The respectable Bantrys invite Miss Marple into their home to investigate. Amid rumors of scandal, she baits a clever trap to catch a ruthless killer.
My thoughts:
This is the 2nd in Christie’s Miss Marple series. I haven’t read many of the Miss Marple books yet so I was glad to have the opportunity to do so.
This was quite a clever mystery that really kept me guessing. I love the way Christie created Miss Marple’s character–she is an older woman who is often overlooked as a spinster yet is completely sound in mind & body and therefore observes more than people realize.
I am looking forward to reading more of the Miss Marple books. I already love watching Hercule Poirot and his little grey cells solve the mysteries he is confronted with and now I’m just as intrigued by Miss Marple and the unassuming way she manages to outwit everyone around her. Christie for sure was one clever genius of her time!
