Summary:
Two sisters on trial for murder. They accuse each other. Who do you believe? From Steve Cavanagh, the “wickedly clever” (The New York Times) master of twisty psychological thrillers.
“911 what’s your emergency?”
“My dad’s dead. My sister Sofia killed him. She’s still in the house. Please send help.”
“My dad’s dead. My sister Alexandra killed him. She’s still in the house. Please send help.”
One of them is a liar and a killer.
My thoughts:
As I make my way through the #EddieFlynn series, I fall more in love with Steve Cavanagh’s writing…the man is one clever genius. I could not make heads or tails of the guilty party here, flip-flopping with each twist throughout the book!
I love a good legal thriller and this one just might be one of the best I’ve read in a long time. It’s so original, so twisted and having the two sisters point the finger at each other for killing their father, when both where at the crime scene just kept me on edge & in a puzzled state of mind as to how it would ultimately turn out. I was so focused on what was going on, trying to find clues as to which sister might have done it that I ended up finishing this in just one sitting — listening of course! But still…it’s so addictive and impossible to put down until you know the resolution. I also loved the “she” chapters…as creepy as these were at times, I always love being in the mindset of the killer, though this in no way provided any clues as to their identity.
This series is so good and I’m already quite eager to start the next one, The Devil’s Advocate.
Audio thoughts:
I was thrilled that Adam Sims was back to narrate this one. I’ve listened to 3 books so far in this series and I love that Adam has narrated each one. He is so consistent, book to book, with the voices, which I find so important when it comes to series. I hope he stays on for the whole series!
