Musing Mondays2

This week’s musing asks:

What does your bookshelf (or, what do your bookshelves) say about you to the people who come into your home?

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your opinion in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks.

**MUSING MONDAYS is hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading

First and foremost my bookshelves say that both my husband and I are avid readers. Between the two of us, we have quite an eclectic collection of books. He likes hardcover books (without the jackets) and I like both hardcovers (with the jackets) and paperbacks.

We do have our books in separate sections of the bookcases and they are organized by author and hardcover/paperback – but only because I organized the bookshelves when we moved into our new house! I do have a separate section on two shelves for all the new books I have that are waiting to be read and then once they are read, if I am going to keep them, they get strategically placed on one of my other shelves. If I am going to pass the book on to someone else, they get put in a basket up in the guest room.

Looking at my bookshelves, it is easy to tell that I primarily favor fiction, with historical fiction coming in second and some nonfiction – mainly biographies of my favorite actresses and  my obsession with the Kennedy family – rounding out the top three.

What about you?

You sound like you're very organized!

When we move (probably in a year or two), I hope to have a room that I can call my "library", and I hope to organize my books. Right now they're not totally organized — I have two shelves for my Christian titles, two shelves for my secular titles, and one for my Classics (and then a bunch are still in Rubbermaid bins in the garage). And, I recently tried to put them alphabetically by Author. But in my "library", I'm going to do the same, but have more room to do it properly. 😉 I honestly can't wait! 😀

I hope to have a library room one day, too! I love walking into rooms that are filled with books. 🙂

Sadly my bookshelf says "I collect dust and cat hair" — but that's because they're dark wood and cleaning isn't my forte.

But as for the content, I'd like to think it shows that I'm (1) organized (by subject, loosely) and (2) eclectic.

I am proud of all the books that are bruised and battered after many years and multiple readings.

We have our fair share of dog hair on the shelves, too. Many of Shea's books have been read multiple times, but I find that there are just too many books out there that I want to read to reread something I've gotten to already!

Haha, I forgot to mention that like you my books probably give people a clue about my hidden OCD tendencies! No one would guess it by looking at my room, but I like my books in order by author and within that in order by series. My friends think I'm crazy, but I like knowing where everything is and that is the best way to do it!

I need to get more organized! I do have my books arranged alphabetically by author on EACH shelf, but not at all by genre…

I think it would be great to have a room for all the shelves…a library! And then I could organize them better.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

Now you made me curious! Who are you favourite actresses?

Oh you are very organized, I am completely the opposite, my books are on the shelves, but that is it. Not by author or series, just on the shelf. Good for you, being so organized. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment.

I love how organized you are. I wish I was like that.

My husband isn't much of a reader so I can't blame the piles of books in the bedroom on anyone but me! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
