Summary:
Beloved detective Hercule Poirot embarks on a journey to Egypt in one of Agatha Christie’s most famous mysteries, Death on the Nile.
The tranquility of a cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything . . . until she lost her life.
Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: “I’d like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.” Yet in this exotic setting nothing is ever quite what it seems.
My thoughts:
December’s theme for #ReadChristie2025 is Military Men and I went with one of the alternative suggestions, 𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙉𝙞𝙡𝙚.
Another Hercule Poirot book and another reread…fitting for the final book of this year’s challenge. This is one of Christie’s most famous mysteries and I really happen to like this one…it’s my 3rd time reading it!
One of the reasons I love particular book so much is that it is based on a trip Christie herself took. I love when she uses her own life experience in her books, and having read quite a few books about her, I am able to pick these details up.
This book is the ultimate locked-room mystery–there’s really nowhere else, besides the sea, to go when aboard a ship that’s out to sea. I also love that we see the return of Colonel Race here — this is the 2nd book I’ve read that features him and at some point I will read the other two!
And that’s a wrap on another year of the Read Christie Challenge hosted by @officialAgathaChristie! ❤️🙌 Since joining this challenge a few years back, this is the 1st year I’ve actually completed the entire challenge, reading one book every month this whole year!! 🙌🏆
Stay tuned …. #ReadChristie2026 has been announced and I am of course participating once again! I look forward to reading my monthly Agatha Christie book and adding to my collection as needed!
