I purchased this book for my own collection.

Summary:
It is clear to Amy Leatheran that something sinister is going on at the Hassanieh dig in Iraq; something associated with the presence of “Lovely Louise,” wife of celebrated archaeologist Dr. Leidner.
In a few days’ time Hercule Poirot is due to drop in at the excavation site. But with Louise suffering from terrifying hallucinations, and tension within the group becoming almost unbearable, Poirot might just be too late…
My thoughts:
After a brief hiatus from my Hercule Poirot streak, I’m back to his series – this being the 14th book in said series. This is also a reread – though it’s been a few years since I read it the 1st time and somehow I didn’t write a review then, so at least I’m getting it done now!
One of the reasons why I loved this one so much, besides it being so clever, is that much like Christie uses her own knowledge of medicines and poisons from her time working in a hospital dispensary during WWI, here she takes her experience traveling on expeditions with her 2nd husband, who was an archaeologist. Her characters are based on people she knew in real life & I just love that!
As I mentioned, this was quite the clever mystery, one that kept me guessing all the way through to the end. As always my favorite part is when Poirot pulls everything together at the end…it always makes me wonder how I missed the clues along the way!
