Month in Review: January 2024

Once again, January felt like both it lasted forever and flew by! While I got off to a great start with reading and was doing pretty good with keeping up with my reviews, a family emergency derailed everything. I’m now playing catch-up, but fortunately everything is ok.

This is looking to be another year of really good reads and I am excited to share them all with you. I have some ideas for new features that I hope to implement here on the blog this year, so stay tuned for that. I already implemented one on my Instagram page, so I will start sharing that here soon.

I am once again doing a book blanket. I had such a great time doing a blanket last year and I’m so excited for a whole new color palette this year.

    • The Storm We Made
    • Northwoods
    • The Great Reclamation
    • The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels
    • The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard
  2. Biggest Surprise of January: I ended up doing a buddy read of The Great Reclamation with a few book friends. This is a book I had sitting on my shelf and I’m now kicking myself for now reading it as soon as I picked it up. It was fantastic!!! I highly recommend it. You can find my review here.
  3. Newly Acquired Books I’m Super Excited About: This month I received quite a few books I cannot wait to read:

    • All the Summers in Between by Brooke Lea Foster, out June 4
    • The Nature of Disappearing by Kimi Cunningham Grant, out June 18
    • The Same Bright Stars by Ethan Joella, out July 2
  4. Favorite Part of Month – Starting my 2024 book blanket. I loved doing this project last year and I am excited to see how this year’s blanket turns out.
  5. 5 Books I’m most looking forward to reading next month:
    • The Women by Kristin Hannah – This is one of my most anticipated books of the year! KH’s historical fiction books have been fantastic and I have heard this one is amazing! Out February 6th.
    • Village in the Dark by Iris Yamashita – This is the second book in Iris’s Cara Kennedy series. I loved the first one, City Under One Roof, and have high hopes for this one! Out February 13th.
    • The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo – This book is not my typical read – mythology with a little fantasy, but I cannot resist. Plus, I just love the cover! Out February 13.
    • Island Witch by Amanda Jayatissa– I am a big fan of Amanda’s books and I cannot wait to start this one. Out February 20th.
    • Ghost Island by Max Seeck– This is the 4th book in the Jessica Niemi series and I am so excited this is finally being translated into English. Out February 27th.
