My thoughts:
This was a total #Bookstagrammademedoit purchase with my #BookOfTheMonth subscription. I got it as an add-on a few months after it was a main choice because everyone was raving about it and while it isn’t my usual type of read, I felt it was something I wanted to try and I’m so glad I did…it totally surprised me in how much I enjoyed it!
This is probably one of the most unique books I’ve read in a while. It’s both hilarious and dark, and while some of the comedy probably went over my head, I still found it to be quite funny. Part of it is set in Hell and I just loved those chapters. The twists that this book takes really kept me engaged and I found all the characters to be so well-drawn. The Harrison Family were quite an interesting bunch and there were definitely some that were the type that you just love to hate!
This is the type of book that once I started, I couldn’t stop. This is definitely what I would consider horror-light and I really think this is totally my sweet spot in the horror genre. Mixed with some thriller aspects and a lot of humor, it made for a great read and I am so glad I picked it up!
Audio thoughts:
This audio was fantastic! The two narrators – MacLeod Andrews and Brittany Pressley – did an amazing job bringing this story to life. MacLeod was perfect for Peyote, making his bad-boy character shine and Brittany always brings her A-game to any narration she does.
