Summary:

From author Julie Clark comes a twisted con-woman thriller about two women out for revenge―or is it justice?

Two women. Many aliases.

Meg Williams. Maggie Littleton. Melody Wilde. Different names for the same person, depending on the town, depending on the job. She’s a con artist who erases herself to become whoever you need her to be―a college student. A life coach. A real estate agent. Nothing about her is real. She slides alongside you and tells you exactly what you need to hear, and by the time she’s done, you’ve likely lost everything.

Kat Roberts has been waiting ten years for the woman who upended her life to return. And now that she has, Kat is determined to be the one to expose her. But as the two women grow closer, Kat’s long-held assumptions begin to crumble, leaving Kat to wonder who Meg’s true target is.

The Lies I Tell is a twisted domestic thriller that dives deep into the psyches and motivations of two women and their unwavering quest to seek justice for the past and rewrite the future.

My thoughts:

After loving Julie Clark’s last book, The Last Flight, I knew I had to read this one and I’m so glad I did. I’m just so mad I waited so long to get to it!

I love a good revenge/con story and this one was one of the best ones I’ve read in a while. And what I loved most about this one is that we once again have two strong women as our main characters. It’s such an addicting, fast-paced story that pulled me in right from the start and kept me invested all the way through. Every time I thought I had my finger on the pulse as to where things were headed, something new would be revealed to turn things around…and I loved that!

Having the story alternate between the two characters and move back and forth in time allows for the pieces to slowly come together in this bizarre cat and mouse game and becomes more and more intriguing the further into it you get. Expect to not want to put this one down once you start it…I flew through this in a matter of hours and regret nothing!

Julie Clark has definitely become a must-read for me and I cannot wait to see what comes next from her!

Audio thoughts:

I loved that there were two narrators, one for each of the main characters. I thought Anne Caputo and Amanda Dolan each did a great job voicing the characters and bringing them to life.
