The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh #bookreview

I purchased this book for my own personal collection.

Summary:

From the New York Times bestselling author of Ghosted comes a love story wrapped in a mystery: an up-all-night page-turner with a dark secret at its core

I have held you at night for ten years and I didn’t even know your name. We have a child together. A dog, a house.

Who are you?

Emma loves her husband Leo and their young daughter Ruby: she’d do anything for them. But almost everything she’s told them about herself is a lie.

And she might just have got away with it, if it weren’t for her husband’s job. Leo is an obituary writer; Emma a well-known marine biologist. When she suffers a serious illness, Leo copes by doing what he knows best – researching and writing about his wife’s life. But as he starts to unravel the truth, he discovers the woman he loves doesn’t really exist. Even her name isn’t real.

When the very darkest moments of Emma’s past finally emerge, she must somehow prove to Leo that she really is the woman he always thought she was . . .

But first, she must tell him about the other love of her life.

My thoughts:

I absolutely loved this book and think if you are considering reading this one, you should just go for it and not read the summary…just go in blind and enjoy the ride. I think this is one where the summary might actually turn people off but really the story is so much more than you think it will be.

This book really grabbed me once I started reading it. It’s one of those books that doesn’t really fit into one set genre. Ultimately, it’s a story about love. It’s part mystery, part family drama, and definitely a love story. It will get under your skin as you read and you will want to talk about this one as you are reading it and once you have finished reading it – which is why it really makes for a good book club pick.

This story is completely readable and I found that once I started reading it, I was unable to put it down. It’s suspenseful and while it is a bit of a slow-burn to it, it still makes you want to keep reading to find out what is going on. I just could not get enough of this one and highly recommend it if you have not read it yet.

Yes…it is so interesting and definitely not the light-hearted read you might think. I highly recommend!
