Summary:

Pam is a 52-year-old teacher who has let herself go for the first time in her life. It’s two years since her husband – ex-husband – John died, and she’s heading from Georgia to California for the third and (she hopes) final time. But just what lies in store for her there?

This chilling Valentine short story by New York Times best-selling author Karin Slaughter is taken from the exclusive audiobook collection The Unremarkable Heart, and Other Stories.

My thoughts:

I’m a huge fan of Karin Slaughter’s books, having read most of her stand-alones and now currently making my way through her Grant County and Will Trent series. I had never heard of this short story until I saw it on someone reviewing it over on Instagram and I immediately checked to see if my library had a copy – and luckily they did.

This was a quick, yet wicked little tale about revenge. It’s exactly what I would expect from this author – how she managed to fit in some unexpected twists in this tiny story I have no idea, yet I was completely satisfied and now I’m off to see if I can find the other stories from this collection. I have yet to be disappointed by this author and she didn’t fail me here…if you are looking for something quick and entertaining, give this one a try!
