Summary:

The International Bestseller–A feel-good, holiday rom com about identical twins who swap lives twelve days before Christmas–perfect for fans of Christina Lauren’s In a Holidaze and Josie Silver’s One Day in December

All they want for Christmas is a different life.

When chef Charlie Goodwin gets hit on the head on the L.A. set of her reality baking show, she loses a lot more than consciousness; she also loses her ability to taste and smell–both critical to her success as show judge. Meanwhile, Charlie’s identical twin, Cass, is frantically trying to hold her own life together back in their quaint mountain hometown while running the family’s bustling bakery and dealing with her ex, who won’t get the memo that they’re over.

With only days until Christmas, a desperate Charlie asks Cass to do something they haven’t done since they were kids: switch places. Looking for her own escape from reality, Cass agrees. But temporarily trading lives proves more complicated than they imagined, especially when rugged firefighter Jake Greenman and gorgeous physician assistant Miguel Rodriguez are thrown into the mix. Will the twins’ identity swap be a recipe for disaster, or does it have all the right ingredients for getting their lives back on track?

My thoughts:

The perfect holiday read that was just the right choice for our last #Mommaleighellensbookclub pick of the year! I’m so glad we opted for a light-hearted, fun, holidayish read to end the year with because it made for such an engaging chat and there really was no pressure if you didn’t make it…it was just a holiday read.

This book definitely has some Parent Trap vibes, which I quite enjoyed. It’s got that Christmasy feel to it, with some meet-cutes that of course have their obstacles in the way to their happily-ever-afters…but it wouldn’t be fun if the path to love were easy, would it? Now I might not read a ton of romcoms, but I do know that much and I enjoy them all the more for that.

Overall, this was a sweet read with some adorable pets that at times stole the scenes and was the perfect read to breeze through in an afternoon. I just wish the recipes that were mentioned throughout the book were included at the end…that would have been the icing on the cake!

I just read this book while I was on a snow vacation and it was perfect! My eight year old daughter asked what it was about and if she could read it, and I realized that there really wasn’t any content that was inappropriate (she hasn’t pressed, so I haven’t given it to her). And I agree: gimme the recipes!
