My thoughts: I’ve read quite a few books by Sarah Morgan, most recently the last few she has written that fall within the cozy holiday-theme. What I love most is that while there is definitely that holiday feel to them, there is also substance there…it’s not all fluff and holiday charm.
It’s no secret that I love a good story about families, particularly ones that delve into relationships and family dysfunction. I love a story that involves secrets and one where there might possibly be some type of reconciliation. Any else that happens – a romance, the holidays, some great locations – is all extra.
I found the characters here to be relatable, especially the sisters. That bond is always something I look at critically, having two sisters myself. And what we get is relationship between the two sisters that is supportive and realistic. I loved how they were there for each other when they were needed, questioned each other and pushed at just the right time. Both need to make changes and we see that happen during the course of the book.
Each character takes their own journey in this book and I loved that. For some, the journey had more obstacles than others. This book tugs at your heartstrings at times, but it is not without it’s humor. There were times I found myself laughing out loud, only to be tearing up in the next moment.
Even though Christmas is still months away, I found this book to be the perfect read to lift my spirits and get me thinking about the holidays!
This sounds like a good warm-up book for the holiday season, which will be here before we know it!
I haven't read Sarah Morgan in several years but I love the sound of her more holiday reads she's had lately and this sounds absolutely wonderful. Definitely a book I need to add to my holiday stack this year.
