Summary:

From the USA Today bestselling author of The Friend Zone comes an adorable and fresh romantic comedy about one trouble-making dog who brings together two perfect strangers.

Two
years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can’t seem to get her
life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a “take me home”
look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her
side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks
of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out. He’s a musician on tour
in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.

Well,
Sloan’s not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this
Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long
calls, Sloan can’t deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny.
There’s no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The
question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason
really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another
heartbreak?

My thoughts: I loved The Friend Zone and actually had this second book in my hands before reading that one. Luckily, I had read a comment from Abby Jimenez herself that you really needed to read the other first, and I am so glad I did. While the events that happen in that book are tragic for our beloved Sloan, picking this one up after, the pieces fall into place as they should.

I enjoyed this story. I felt that Sloan deserved her happy ever after and as far as romances go, this one is a good one. Yes, parts of it were predictable, but aren’t all romances? I think for me, when I read romances, which really isn’t too often, it’s more about the journey and I enjoyed this one. I loved that this was one bumpy ride that is filled with challenges. The connection is there once Sloan and Jason meet – that is obvious from the get-go and I loved that they met because of a dog…the dog lover in me melted on the spot! From the get-to-know you games that they play on the phone before even meeting in person to the charming date he takes her on before she even realizes just who he is, I was swooning, but then reality sets in and you just know this isn’t going to be an easy journey for them. Can they make it work?

I always love when an author can make you feel all the feels and Abby Jimenez definitely manages to do that and then some. You’ll be laughing one minute and then the next thing you know you are feeling something completely different. It’s amazing how she can evoke all the feelings. I am definitely a fan of Abby Jimenez and will for sure be reading/listening to anything she writes from now on! Have you read these books yet? If not, what are you waiting for?

Audio thoughts: This audio was so good and I was glad to see that Erin Mallon was back again. I really enjoyed her narration from the previous book even though now she was voicing a different character. Zachary Webber was a new-to-narrator but I thought he did a great job and all-in-all this audio was just pure fun.
