Summary:

The Lost for Words Bookshop is a compelling, irresistible, and heart-rending audiobook from author Stephanie Butland

Loveday
Cardew prefers books to people. If you look carefully, you might
glimpse the first lines of the novels she loves most tattooed on her
skin. But there are some things Loveday will never, ever show you.

Into her hiding place – the bookstore where she works – come a poet, a lover, and three suspicious deliveries.

Someone has found out about her mysterious past. Will Loveday survive her own heartbreaking secrets?

My thoughts: A book set in a bookshop – what’s not to love? I will always be drawn to books that are set in or center around a bookshop…that’s just a fact. And when you add in a quirky character, I’m sold.

This book turned out to be a slow burn and it was just the type of read I was in the mood for. And when you add in the charming, endearing main character – Loveday Cardew – I found myself totally engaged and wrapped up in the story. I loved that it alternated from the present to the past, alluding to a bit of a mystery – it really keeps you intrigued as to what happened in Loveday’s past that perhaps shaped her to be the person she turned out to be.

This is the type of book that once you start reading it, you just can’t put it down. You immediately become drawn into Loveday’s life, finding her quirkiness so endearing and I loved that at times she talks directly to the reader. She loves books more than people and even has tattoos of the first lines of her favorite books.

I loved the relationship that Loveday has with the two men in this book – both Archie and Nathan. Love is something that doesn’t come easy for Loveday and this is something that both these men – one her boss, the other her beau – have shown that she deserves. These are the good guys and they clearly come across as such time and again.

This book will tug at your heartstrings. It made me laugh and it made me shed a few tears and I certainly will not be forgetting Loveday Cardew anytime soon!

The name Loveday Cardew is so pretty, it sounds like an old-time movie star. Love this cover, too!
