In the heart of Trenton, N.J., a killer is out to make sure someone gets his just desserts.

Larry
Virgil skipped out on his latest court date after he was arrested for
hijacking an eighteen-wheeler full of premium bourbon. Fortunately for
bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, Larry is just stupid enough to attempt
almost the exact same crime again. Only this time he flees the scene,
leaving behind a freezer truck loaded with Bogart ice cream and a dead
body—frozen solid and covered in chocolate and chopped pecans.

As
fate would have it, Stephanie’s mentor and occasional employer, Ranger,
needs her to go undercover at the Bogart factory to find out who’s
putting their employees on ice and sabotaging the business. It’s going
to be hard for Stephanie to keep her hands off all that ice cream, and
even harder for her to keep her hands off Ranger. It’s also going to be
hard to explain to Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli, why she is
spending late nights with Ranger, late nights with Lula and Randy
Briggs—who are naked and afraid—and late nights keeping tabs on Grandma
Mazur and her new fella. Stephanie Plum has a lot on her plate, but for a
girl who claims to have “virtually no marketable skills,” these are the
kinds of sweet assignments she does best.

***Short & Sweet Reviews are
short, quick reviews. These will mainly be used for series books where I
have already done full reviews on some of the earlier books or for
books that I feel will suffice with a quick review. These will not be
used for review requests or blog tours.

My thoughts:So, for those keeping count, this is book 23 in the Stephanie Plum series and for some reason, I am hanging on – mostly to see who Stephanie chooses in the end. Will it be Morelli or Ranger? And at this point, I‘m not even sure I know who I want her to be with – after each book, I seem to change my mind!

So, why do I stick with this series besides that? Because these stories are just fun! They are light, easy, and funny as anything – especially when Lula or Grandma Mazur are involved. After reading all the heavy psychological thrillers that I seem to be gravitating towards lately, picking up something like this is like a palate cleanser – it’s just good, clean (well, maybe not always so g-rated if you catch my drift!) fun!

The cases tend to be the general run of the mill, same-old, same-old. Stephanie needs to catch a bounty that’s skipped bail, she’s afraid to shoot her gun – if it even has any bullets in it, and she finds herself in some crazy, ridiculous situations. This particular case involved ice cream and had me craving ice cream the whole time!

So, most likely, I’ll be sticking with this series for the long haul…though I really don’t know how much longer it can go on…just pick your man already, Steph!!!

Audio thoughts:Oh, Lorelei…I just love your narration of this series! You have nailed the voices of Stephanie, Lula, Grandma Mazur, Joe and Ranger…so much so that I have a hard time listening to you narrate anything else. So, as long as this series goes on, I hope you stick with it, but that means I can’t pick up anything else you might have narrated!

How did I miss that Lorelei King narrates this? I've been thinking about re-starting it but now that I know this I'm going to have too!
