Why is everyone talking about the ending of Sarah Pinborough’s Behind Her Eyes?

Louise
is a single mom, a secretary, stuck in a modern-day rut. On a rare
night out, she meets a man in a bar and sparks fly. Though he leaves
after they kiss, she’s thrilled she finally connected with someone.

When
Louise arrives at work on Monday, she meets her new boss, David. The
man from the bar. The very married man from the bar…who says the kiss
was a terrible mistake but who still can’t keep his eyes off Louise.

And
then Louise bumps into Adele, who’s new to town and in need of a
friend, but she also just happens to be married to David. David and
Adele look like the picture-perfect husband and wife, but then why is
David so controlling, and why is Adele so scared of him?

As
Louise is drawn into David and Adele’s orbit, she uncovers more puzzling
questions than answers. The only thing that is crystal clear is that
something in this marriage is very, very wrong, but Louise can’t guess
how wrong―and how far a person might go to protect their marriage’s
secrets.

My thoughts: Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably been seeing this book all around social media with the hashtag #WTFthatending. And, if you are anything like me, it probably piqued your interest, especially if you love psychological thrillers. Well, let me tell you – this one, it’s good and that ending…OMG – even knowing it was going to be something out of left field, I will still left stunned!

Sarah Pinborough is a new author for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but from the moment I picked up this book, I had a hard time putting it down. I immediately was drawn into the worlds of Adele, Louise and David – and even though I didn’t necessarily love them all, I still felt some strange connection with them – I had to know where this was all going and what that #WTFthatending was going to be all about. Even when I thought I had it figured it, I wasn’t even close!

This storied is built on lies, secrets, deception and twist upon twist. It’s so cleverly crafted that it has you begging for more, even when you don’t think you can stand to read anymore. The pacing keeps you hooked, the characters are engaging, flawed and so intriguing that you just want to keep reading to find out all you can about them.

Believe me when I say, the less you know about this book going into it, the better off you are. But trust me, if you like gripping, chilling psychological thrillers, this book is for you! It’s like no other that I have read – and I’ve been reading a lot in this genre lately…this one is in a world unto itself, but oh so very good!!!

This appeared in my Audible library this morning and will be my next listen. I'm almost a little leery because of all the talk about it, but hopefully, it will be a good one for me. Thanks for your viewpoint.

I have seen the cover but haven't read any reviews yet, yours is the first. At least I know I need to read this soon before the hype. The ending….. I'm intrigued.

I always get a little nervous when a book has a lot of buzz – particularly when it's focused on one specific part of the book. I'm glad to hear this one lives up to the hype! I'm looking forward to reading it!
