With FIELD OF GRAVES, New York Times bestselling author J.T. Ellison goes back to where it all began…

All
of Nashville is on edge with a serial killer on the loose. A madman is
trying to create his own end-of-days apocalypse and the cops trying to
catch him are almost as damaged as the killer. Field of Graves reveals
the origins of some of J.T. Ellison’s most famous creations: the haunted
Lieutenant Taylor Jackson; her blunt, exceptional best friend, medical
examiner Dr. Samantha Owens; and troubled FBI profiler Dr. John Baldwin.
Together, they race the clock and their own demons to find the killer
before he claims yet another victim. This dark, thrilling and utterly
compelling novel will have readers on the edge of their seats, and
Ellison’s fans will be delighted with the revelations about their
favorite characters.

My thoughts:J.T. Ellison is still a relatively new author to me, having only read one other book of hers so far – her stand alone, No One Knows, which I absolutely loved!!! When I saw this one coming out, I knew I wanted to read it, but I was a little hesitant when I saw it was the 8th in the series – but rest assured as it actually works as a prequel to the series…perfect for me who likes to read series in order!!!

I loved this book and now I cannot wait to go back and start this series from the beginning. Yes, this book technically is listed at book 8, but it really works as an introduction to not only Taylor Jackson, but how her team came together. It also introduces us to Dr. Samantha Owens, the medical examiner, who has her own series – another series that I will definitely be looking into! And we learn how Taylor and Dr. John Baldwin wind up together…I really like their backstory – they each have their own demons and I think their is much more to tell there.

The case that Taylor and her team are called to investigate is complex and keeps you guessing as the team races to solve it before another college student is killed. I loved getting to know the individual team members and hope that they all become familiar faces as I continue on with the series.

J.T. Ellison is definitely going on my new favorite author list and that she has a few series plus she writes stand-alones is a big plus in my eyes!!! I can’t wait to continue on with both these series and I also know she co-writes with Catherine Coulter on her FBI series – so many good books just got added to my tbr list – where do I start first???

Audio thoughts:I love when I find a new series that I can listen to and that I like the narrator! I‘ve listened to Joyce Bean before and enjoy her narrating skills and this was no different – she does a great job with the voices, giving each character their own unique voice and her pacing is spot on. Being that this is the 8th book in the series, I checked and am happy to see that Joyce has narrated all prior books – that makes me one happy camper!!! I really dislike when the narrator changes mid-series and now I don’t have to worry about that 🙂
