Detective Helen Grace gets caught in an inferno of death and destruction in the red-hot new thriller from the author of Eeny Meeny, Pop Goes the Weasel, and The Doll’s House

Detective
Helen Grace has never seen such destruction. Six fires in twenty-four
hours. Two people dead. Several more injured. It’s as if someone wants
to burn the city to the ground…

With the whole town on high
alert, Helen and her team must sift through the rubble to find the
arsonist, someone whose thirst for fire—and control—is reducing entire
lives to ashes.

One misstep could mean Helen’s career—and
more lives lost. And as the pressure mounts and more buildings burn,
Helen’s own dark impulses threaten to consume her…

My thoughts:This is the 4th  book in M.J. Arlidge’s Helen Grace series…a series I am absolutely loving for the crazy twists and way it continues to keep me on my toes with each new book. You just never know what’s going to happen or what direction the story will take.

What I love about this series is that the crimes that Helen and her team set out to investigate are never as clear cut as they first appear to be. This time around they are investigating arson attacks in what first appear to be random attacks, but of course are anything but. As the attacks escalate, and Helen’s team finally start to figure things out, the pace of the book picks up…and boy do things get crazy! The pace of the book matches this and you sure don’t want to put it down – I found myself having a hard time walking away until I knew how it was all going to end, and WOW – I didn‘t see any of that coming!

Helen Grace is the perfect detective for this series – she’s complex yet flawed; she’s intriguing with all her history, yet she’s got sass and is not afraid to stand up for what she believe’s is the right course of action when it comes to her team or her investigation. I just can’t get enough of her and love that there’s just enough time devoted to her personal story as there is to the case.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series, especially since there’s a little teaser about what might happen in the next book… a teaser that has to do with Helen personally, but still…I’m quite anxious to get my hands on that next book!!! Now I just have to wait for it to be available in the US!!!

I have the first three on my TBR and this review just made it jump higher up the list. It sounds really good! I love a good police procedural and this sounds like a good mix of substance, page turner, and just good mystery that I definitely don't want to pass it up!
