#FitReaders: Weekly Check-in February 5

#FitReaders is hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog  and That’s What I’m Talking About

It was a pretty good week. I got my first 5K of the month in – thanks to insomnia!!! I’m so glad my gym opens so early…lol!!! I think I was at the gym at 4:15am that morning and I don’t even work on Mondays 🙂 But, it was great getting it done and now I definitely plan on getting a 10K done this month! I was going to go to the mall on Friday to walk my 10K, but we ended up getting a snow storm out of the blue, so I ended up shoveling all morning as my workout!

I’ve been doing ok with my meal planning. My go-to breakfast has been plain greek yogurt with fresh berries and some granola. It fills me up and doesn’t seem to cause my rosacea to breakout (still not sure exactly what causes the breakouts which is so frustrating!!!) I’m still struggling with lunch – I’m trying to eat a bigger lunch and a smaller dinner – but some days are much better than others. What are your go-to lunches?

But the good news is that whatever I’m doing is working – I’m down a few more pounds!!! I don’t typically weigh myself every day or even every week anymore – I just judge it by how my clothes fit, but I finally got on the scale and was pleasantly surprised to see the results!

Here’s how my week of went:

Jan 30:  12,314 steps
Jan 31:  4,868 steps
Feb  1:  16,569 steps (Gym, 5K on treadmill)

Feb  2:  10,502 steps
Feb  3:  10,693 steps (20 min Yoga)

Feb  4:  10,198 steps

Feb  5:  10,554 steps

Audiobooks listened to this week:

  • Finished White Gardenia by Belinda Alexandra, narrated by Deidre Rubenstein
  • Started The Ex by Alafair Burke, narrated by Xe Sands

Great job with your steps and health and fitness goals! Congrats on the 5K and I think shoveling should definitely count as a workout! I'm lucky I don't have to do that where I live but then we've hardly had anything to shovel this year 🙂

I think your breakfast sounds really healthy. I eat a Pop-tart for breakfast every day though I sometimes have oatmeal. I don't eat lunch so I can't offer any advice. I usually have a snack like an oatmeal square and some white hot chocolate to tide me over till supper. I have other health issues so eating any big meal is a bad idea. I should have healthier snacks though.

I hope you have a great week and get to do your 10K soon!

Another week well done. Insomnia can be a curse but good on you for using it to work out! I am not to fussy about food but have a smoothie for lunch which is summer for me – winter a toasted sandwich or something- harder in the winter. Wow shovelling snow would be a big workout.

Great job, Kristin! Greek yogurt is wonderful, and so is kefir. I often have oatmeal for breakfast, and I keep my lunches pretty simple, such as a nut butter sandwich on Ezekiel raisin bread. Lately I have been making fresh nut butters (with the Vitamix) which are wonderful. I ran in a 10k today–now I am set to enjoy a Super Bowl Sunday party!

WOOT WOOT! You go girl 🙂 I wish I liked yogurt. I am going to have to figure out ways to get around that 🙂
