Book Blog Walkers: Weekly Check-in September 26

#BookBlogWalkers is hosted by Felicia @ The Geeky Bloggers Book Blog

Today I went and renewed my membership at the gym. I haven’t really been there since the early spring, but now that it’s getting lighter out later in the mornings, I think I will go back to going to the gym first thing in the mornings to walk on the treadmill a few days a week. Plus, I desperately need to get back to my yoga classes – I miss them and can feel the difference not going once or twice a week makes.

As part of my membership, I get a free 1-hour session with a personal trainer. I used to work out with a trainer twice a week a few years ago, but stopped. Now that my fitness goals have changed, I’m interested in seeing what the trainer can suggest. I do plan on walking another 1/2 marathon next spring and possibly a full marathon next summer. Maybe he/she can give me some strength-building exercises to do in preparation for that!

Here’s how my week went:

Sep 20:  rest
Sep 21:  rest
Sep 22:  30 minutes
Sep 23:  30 minutes

Sep 24:  45 minutes
Sep 25:  30 minutes

Sep 26:  45 minutes

How did your week go?

My week was a challenge but I met it. I can't wait to see if you like the personal trainer.

I'll let you know. I don't plan on doing more than the one free session with the trainer, but it will be nice to get some tips and suggestions from them!

That's interesting – I would never be game for a personal trainer, and have tried yoga a few times. However your post reminds me to be better at stretching – well I don't at the moment, but I need to start!

I was totally apprehensive last time, but really hit it off with the trainer and she became a really good friend of mine. She has since left the gym, so I'm curious to see who I get this time around. It's only 1 session, so it doesn't really matter all that much – I just want a few tips for strength training for my big walks.

I'm not a big stretcher either, so yoga is great for that!

The PT sounds excellent, I'd love to see what a trainer would tell me (more strength! well ok 😉

Last time it was really beneficial. I don't plan on doing more than the free session, but just thought it would be nice to get some tips on what to do for strength training for the big walks I do.

You had a great week. It's good you renewed your gym membership. It is also staying darker in the mornings for me so it is safer to go to the gym. Plus having a session with trainer should be helpful. Have a great week!
