After having her heart
broken by a country music star, Savannah Braden has sworn off men. She
takes a break from her fast-paced Manhattan lifestyle for a weekend at a
survivor camp to rebuild her confidence and readjust her priorities.
But when she meets the handsome guide, Jack Remington, she’s drawn to
everything about him—from his powerful physique to his brooding
stare—despite the big chip on his shoulder. Powerless to ignore the
heated glances and mounting sexual tension, Savannah begins to reassess
her hasty decision.

After losing his wife in a tragic accident,
Jack Remington found solace in the mountains of Canada. This solitary
existence allows him to wallow in his guilt and punish himself for
having made a decision that he believes cost his wife her life. He never
expected to want to return to the life he once knew—but then again, he
never expected to meet gorgeous, stubborn, and competitive Savannah
Braden.

One passionate kiss is all it takes to crack the walls
the two have built to protect themselves, and allow love to slip in.
While Jack fights his way through his guilt, and struggles to get back
into the lives of those he left behind, Savannah is there to help him
heal, and together they nurture hope that they’ve finally found their
forever loves.

My thoughts: I feel like a broken record when it comes to my reviews of this series as I keep saying that each book is better than the last, but honestly, I really feel that it’s true! Not that I didn’t like all the previous books, but I just seem to fall more in love with the family and the subsequent love stories as I make my way through the series.

This time around we get Savannah’s happily-ever-after. As the lone female in the Braden family, I’ve been quite curious about her story, knowing that whoever she ends up with would have to stand up to the scrutiny of not only Hal Braden, my favorite patriarch of all-time, but also the five Braden brothers. And I truly believe Jack Remington holds his own and then some! My goodness, just wait until you get to the end of the book – there’s a scene where you will absolutely melt…I still get goosebumps just thinking about it!!!

I loved Savannah and Jack’s story. It’s filled with emotion – raw, gut-wrenching, passionate emotion that I don’t think we’ve really experienced in this series so far. This truly is a story about second chance love and knowing when to let the past go. It’s beautifully written and quite a few times I found myself tearing up, the emotion was so palpable.

This book also introduced us to Jack’s family, who will be the focus of Melissa’s next series, The Remingtons. I know I have some catching up to do with some of the earlier books that I missed, but then I will absolutely be reading the next series…I just can’t get enough of these families that Melissa creates! Oh – and rest assured, you don’t need to read this series in order. Each book can be read as a stand-alone.
