With warmth and sensitivity, #1
New York Times
bestselling author Robyn Carr shows readers that falling in love can be the bravest act of all.

In
a moment of desperation, Devon McAllister takes her daughter and flees a
place where they should have been safe and secure. She has no idea what
is around the next bend, but she is pretty certain it can’t be worse
than what they’ve left behind. Her plan is to escape to somewhere she
can be invisible. Instead, an unexpected offer of assistance leads her
to Thunder Point, a tiny Oregon town with a willingness to help someone
in need.

As the widowed father of a vulnerable young boy,
Spencer Lawson knows something about needing friendship. But he’s not
looking for anything else. Instead, he’s thrown his energy into his new
role as Thunder Point’s high school football coach. Tough and demanding
to his team, off the field he’s gentle and kind…just the kind of man
who could heal Devon’s wounded heart.

Devon thought she wanted
to hide from the world. But in Thunder Point, you find bravery where you
least expect it…and sometimes, you find a hero.

My thoughts:
This is the 3rd book in Robyn Carr’s new series, Thunder Point, and I
am really enjoying getting to know the people that live in Thunder
Point. Each book introduces us to some new characters, but we still get
to see plenty of the ones we’ve already come to love, most especially
Coop, who I suspect the series is mostly about.

In
this installment, Rawley Goode is involved in the main story line and I
was so glad to see just how good a character he really is. We actually
meet him in the first book, but he’s mainly kept to the sidelines – he
definitely doesn’t want attention brought to himself. He ends up picking
up a young woman, Devon, and her little girl on the side of the road
and sensing she is in some sort of trouble, offers to help her out. I
got chills realizing just how big a heart this man has!

The book also follows up on a story line started in the previous book, The Newcomer.
Spencer has just moved with his son, Austen, to Thunder Point and is
trying to get acclimated to not only the new town and his new job, but
to co-parenting his son with Austen’s biological dad. As soon as he
meets Devon, he knows he’s in trouble and is willing to do all he can to
help her stay safe. Slowly they begin dating and I loved watching their
relationship progress.

There
are a few smaller stories that are set up towards the end of the book,
possibly hinting that the series might continue – I know that I would
absolutely love that! Not only do we need to see how these newer nuggets
turn out, but things have happened to the main characters that have
left us wondering what will happen next.

As
I mentioned in my review of The Newcomer, I like the direction and feel
of this new series. While it’s like Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series – a
series I loved – in that it focuses on a small town and the people that
live there, it’s different in the fact that there is one main character
that the series is set-up around. That character, Coop, seems to have a
major storyline in each of the books so far.

Have you read this series yet? If so, what are your thoughts on the set-up? If not, what are you waiting for???

This is the first Robyn Carr book that I read and I really liked the characters of Rawley and Devon. I didn't feel lost with all the other characters either which I appreciated. I do prefer books where the story just focuses on the main couple though but it is nice to see that the author and her fans really care about the secondary characters.
