When life gets complicated, New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods proves family—and love—can make all the difference

Facing
a personal crisis, ambitious and driven Gabriella Castle retreats to
the welcoming arms of her family. Everything she’s worked for has been
yanked out from under her, and she seeks the serenity of her
grandmother’s home on the North Carolina coast. With difficult decisions
to make about her future, the last thing she wants is an unexpected
love.

Wade Johnson fell for Gabi the first time he saw her. It’s
not the only time he’s found himself in the role of knight in shining
armor, but Gabi isn’t looking for a rescuer. To get her to stay, Wade
will need a whole lot of patience and gentle persuasion…and maybe the
soothing sound of wind chimes on a summer breeze.

My thoughts: This is the 2nd in Sherryl Woods’ Ocean Breeze series and it was just as delightful as the first one, Sand Castle Bay. I am really enjoying getting to know the Castle family – not only the three sisters, who are the main characters of each of the three books, but also their extended family and friends.

This second installment of the Ocean Breeze series focuses on Gabi, the middle sister of the Castle clan, who finds herself in quite the predicament – she’s just found out she’s pregnant, has lost her job and been dumped. Needing time to figure things out, she heads to the one place where no one will judge – Sand Castle Bay. Staying with her grandmother and taking some time to herself will give her the much needed space to think things over and decide what she wants to do with her life and with the baby. Gabi has always been a planner – she has always known what she wants and has been able to plan it all out to the tiniest degree. Now everything is up in the air.

Wade Johnson is a carpenter and family friend. Despite having suffered his own set of losses, he is looking for love again and has his eyes set on Gabi – thanks in part to Gabi’s grandmother Cora Jane putting Gabi in Wade’s line of vision during previous visits to Sand Castle Bay.

I really liked how the relationship between Gabi and Wade was built up slowly
and stayed steady throughout the book. Wade definitely represents that
“ideal” man, confident, reassuring and always there when you need him. He provides Gabi
with a sounding board and always seems to have her best interests at heart. I also love how the other Castle girls are involved in this book. Even though we got Emily’s story in the first book of the series, she still plays a big part in this book, as does other sister, Samantha. Plus, we get a much deeper look into the relationship that the girls have with their father – which lead to some really heartwarming scenes in this book.

I’m really excited to read the next book in this series and see how Samantha finds her happily-ever-after, although I’m also a bit reluctant to read it because that means the end of the series…or does it? Perhaps this is just the first 3 books in what will grow to be a bigger series??? I really hope so!
