Audio Book Week 2012: Listen Up!

Today is the final discussion post for Audiobook Week 2012. I want to thank  Jen at Devourer of Books for hosting a great week of discussions centered around audiobooks this week.

Here’s today’s discussion topic:

Where do you learn about great audiobook titles? Find reviews? Buy your audiobooks? Share your secrets with the rest of us!

I get the majority of my audiobooks from the library – both in cd format for the car and digital format for my iPod using Overdrive. I have never bought an audio, but I have won a couple, and just recently I’ve gotten a few for review from a publisher. When at the library, I tend to pick from what’s available. My job takes me to the different libraries within our county, so I always check each library because they all have different selections. Sometimes, if I am looking for a specific audiobook, I will just request it. As for the digital audios that I get, again, it tends to be what’s available when I’m looking.

I tend to find reviews of audio books from my fellow bloggers. There are so many bloggers out there that listen to audios, so it’s easy to find them. I also try to participate in the Sound Bytes meme at Devourer of Books on Fridays, which is a place where bloggers can link their audio book reviews for the week.

What about you? How do you go about finding new audiobooks?

I'm so glad I came across it a few weeks ago…now I just have to remember to save my audio reviews for Fridays!

I get many from the library also, but mostly through the Overdrive system. Our library system for the city is so large, the cds can get a bit beat up after a while. Now with the Overdrive system, its just made me lazy on going to the library for audiobooks.

I hate when the cd is scratched…that's happened so many times! I just started using Overdrive, so I'm still getting used to it.

I need to remember to participate in Sound Bytes!

I mainly use the library but I'm finding that they focus mostly on YA titles for audiobooks so I've recently started an Audible account and love it!

I haven't used Audible yet – might have to take a look into it. But, my library system has such a good selection, that I can't see buying the audios, especially since no one else in my family listens to them.

I'm very sporadic with participating in Sound Bytes, but I have found some great recommendations there.
