It’s Monday…What Are You Reading? (4.16.12)

It’s Monday What Are you Reading , hosted by Sheila, isthe perfect way for me to begin my week and allows me to focus on what needs to be read and to see what I have or have not accomplished the previous week. I also enjoy discovering new books by visiting other participants blogs

It was a quiet week this past week, and I got some good reading time in, but the books I picked to read this week were not the quick-paced, fast reads that I had last week.

One of my goals this year has been to be more consistent in working out. I belong to a gym and go most mornings, sometimes as early as 5AM (hubby gets up really early, so since I’m up, I go to gym!). Now that the weather is getting nice out, I might switch some of my treadmill workouts outside. I would love to figure out how to get audio books on my ipod. I get my audio books from the library (they’re free) and I can download from the library system, but can’t figure out how to get it from Overdrive to my ipod – any help would be most appreciated!!!

Books Completed last week:

  • The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella (library audio book)
  • Alex Cross’s Trial by James Patterson (mine)

Reading Now:

  • The Shoemaker’s Wife by Adriana Trigiani (library book)
  • The Hot Flash Club by Nancy Thayer (library audio book)

Next:

  • The Flower Reader by Elizabeth Loupas (review book)
  • The Last Queen by CW Gortner (mine)
  • The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen (library audio book)

I've only put an Overdrive audiobook on my iPod once but it is possible. Here is a link to Overdrive support that has a step by step video (under Enjoying Download Media, click the second option): overdrive.com/Solutions/Libraries/guidedtour/#!prettyPhoto/8/

She definitely is – one of my favorite authors!

I love the Alex Cross books – for some reason I had skipped Alex Cross's Trial. I didn't really think it was part of the series, but decided to read it anyway.

Oh, I want to read The Shoemaker's Wife…love that author and that series.

I see several other books on your list that I've enjoyed, like The Undomestic Goddess, The Hot Flash Club, and The Other Woman…and I think I might want to read JP's Guilty Wives.

    Enjoy!

And thanks for visiting my blog. Have a great week!

I am really enjoying The Shoemaker's Wife – I really don't want it to end.

I'm almost done with The Hot Flash Club and it's so funny. Have you read the rest of the series?

To get books on my iPod, I simply import them as I would any regular CD into iTunes. They don't like to show up then in the "audiobooks" section, so I make each book its own playlist.

I get audiobooks from the library and paperbackswap.com to do this, but I do also have an audible account. If you get books from audible, it will automatically put them in your iTunes library for you under the "audiobooks" section.

Hope this helps. Happy Monday! 🙂

Thank you…I'm going to see if I can do this. I get all my audio books from the library – but I haven't tried putting the cd's onto itunes. Do you use Overdrive at all?

I use Overdrive too and it took my college age son to help me figure it out. I connect the iPod first, iTunes is open, then I open Overdrive. Before you transfer from Overdrive you have to switch the Ipod to manual download in order to get the audiobook from overdrive to the iPod. Email me if you need more info.

Sorry I can't help you in the downloading books to ipod area. You have inspired me to think about getting an exercising routine happening. I've been taking it really easy since I've had a heart attack recently and am on medication for high blood pressure so it's kind of set me back a little.

I LOVE Sarah Addison Allen! She's a local author for me, so that may prejudice me just a bit. 🙂 Sounds like Nise has steered you in the right direction with Overdrive. I forgot I had to do all that initial setup. At this point, I just click the "Transfer" button on Overdrive and it magically happens. So it will get easier after the first time! Enjoy your week, and good luck with your audiobook downloads!

I don't use Overdrive but I import my audiobooks from a variety of places to itunes, then upload to my ipod. With itune's open you should be able to import as Nise has suggested … good luck!

The Last Queen was an absolute favourite of mine in 2009, hope you love it!

Hope your dad's surgery and recovery goes well too.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading 🙂

I'm hoping I'm able to do it…I'm not really tech savvy, but I'm going to give it a go.

I read another of CW Gortner's books – The Tudor Secret and really liked it.

Thanks for the well wishes – hopefully it's a smooth process!

There is an Overdrive App itunes.apple.com/au/app/overdrive-media-console-library/id366869252?mt=8 then you dont have to transfer into iTunes or anything, you just link your account and download it to the app

    Hope that helps

I only started reading a few books at one time recently, but only because of audio books. I now tend to have one audio and one book going at once.

I would listen to books on audio when I walk, but I zone out so bad when I'm walking that it's not even funny. I'm just better off listening to my iPod. I hope your week was productive!

I'm hoping I will be able to pay attention if I listen while walking…we'll see!
