FIR ’11: Reading Question #2

FIR is hosted by Katrina atCallapidderdays.

Every Wednesday this fall, Katrina will be posting a question about reading.

Today’s question: How often do you re-read books? What does it take to make you re-read?

Because there are so many good books out there that I haven’t read yet and so many being released each day, I rarely have an opportunity to reread anything. With that being said, there are a few that I have already reread and a few that I know I will reread at some point.

  • Pride and Prejudice – I remember reading this in school and not enjoying that we had to dissect it. I had the opportunity to reread it last year and loved it. Now I just need to read Jane Austen’s other works.

  • Anne of Green Gables – this was hands down my favorite series to read growing up and last year I decided to reread the entire series – I read the first and then listened to the second and third. I would love to find the rest of the series on audio, but haven’t yet.

  • The Harry Potter series – I haven’t reread this series yet, but I definitely have it on my list to do so. This time around, I think I want to listen to it as I have heard the audio version of the series is awesome.

  • A few of the other books I remember reading in school I would love to reread – A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, and To Kill a Mockingbird, to name a few.

Now my husband, on the other hand, constantly rereads books. He finds what he likes and can read it again and again and again.

What about you? How often do you read a book more than once, and what makes you do it?

I have Pride and Prejudice and the Harry Potter books on my to re-read list too. My sister just brought me my own set of HP books so I can't wait to read them again!

My answer is here if you'd like a look 🙂

I keep rewatching the Anne of Green Gables series on DVD but have yet to actually read it. I'm going to have to make a point of getting to them in the written form!

These days, because I have so many books to read, it is rare that I reread a book. But I do reread classics every so often. Rereading classics from school days is a good idea, because we get more out of them with the passage of time. 🙂

I re-read over and over again–LOVE it! And I recently re-read TKAM and I predict you will like it much, MUCH better this time (as I did!) smile I'm looking forward to blogging about this question tomorrow!
