Virtual Blog Tour and Review: Ten Beach Road by Wendy Wax

First line: Though she was careful not to show it, Madeline Singer did not fall apart when her youngest child let for college.

From the back cover: On the brink of ruin, three very different women discover themselves where they least expect it…at Ten Beach Road.

Madeline, Avery, and Nikki are strangers to one another, but they have one thing in common. They each wake up one morning to discover that their life savings have vanished, along with their trusted financial manager…leaving them with nothing but co-ownership of a ramshackle beachfront house.

Madeline Singer is a homemaker coping with empty-nest syndrome and an unemployed husband. Avery Lawford is an architect – or was, until she somehow became the sidekick on her ex-husband’s TV show. And professional matchmaker Nikki Grant is trying to recover from her biggest mistake…

No one is going to save them but themselves. Determined to fight back, they throw their lots in together and take on the challenge of restoring the historic beach house to its former glory. But just as they begin to reinvent themselves and discover the power of friendship, their secrets threaten to tear down their trust, and destroy their lives a second time…

My thoughts: This is the first book I have read by Wendy Wax and I loved it. It was a fun, quick read – perfect reading for the upcoming beach season! Ten Beach Road is a story about three women, strangers to each other at first, that lose everything to a Ponzi scheme and end up co-owners of a derelict beachfront mansion. Not left with many options, they spend a sweat-soaked summer fixing up the house and at the same time learn a few life lessons along the way. Tackling issues such as trust, risk taking, honesty and mother/daughter relationships, the story still manages to be a light read. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by Wendy Wax.

About the author: Wendy Wax is the author of eight previous novels. A former broadcaster, she lives in the Atlanta suburbs with her husband and two teenage sons, who have turned her into the shortest member of her family.

I received a complimentary copy of Ten Beach Road by Wendy Wax from Erin at Penguin Group USA as part of the tour.
