Bookin Through Thursday: Hot! (7.15.10)

Today’s Booking Through Thursday question asks:

Well, folks, I don’t know about where you are, but right here, it’s HOT.

So … when you think about “hot reading,” what does that make you think of? Beach reading? Steamy romances? Books that take place in hot climates? Or cold ones?

While it has been uncomfortably hot this month here in NY, “hot reading” to me doesn’t correlate to the temperature. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about hot reading is just released books that are available either in the library or the bookstore. These are the books that are flying off the shelf and the library has a wait list of fifty or more people wanting to get their hands on said book.

Another thing that comes to mind is any book that I have a hard time putting down. Of course, James Patterson books instantly come to mind, but there are other books that fit this – The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Help, just to name some.

The last thing that comes to mind when hearing the phrase “hot reading” are the steamy romance books by Carly Phillips. Her books just seem to fit the bill -steamy, hot, fast reads that you don’t want to end!

What about you?

I like a nice cozy easy read when it is Hot. But, I also like a good storyline.

    Happy "Hot" Reading.

    Kristin:
It appears we have the same thought process lol. Also, like you, a Patterson book comes to mind along with some other authors. You would probably like a new author, Vincent Zandri. If you have an EReader, his current book is on Amazon for $2.99. I read his "Moonlight Falls" and it was like reading a Patterson book.

I know what you mean about the library wait lists! Even with seven-day loans it can take forever.

You're right–new reads are pretty "hot," and for good reason! I always want to buy new books as well…I am just always unsure of when to read them! Summer just always seems to be the right time to check books off of that reading list…and yet we always add new ones. 🙂

Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your visit and comment. Enjoy your summer and enjoy reading!!

I think of reading in the hot, summer sun. Steamy romances and erotica aren't really my genre of choice!
