Do you prefer books with a dust jacket? What do you do with your dust jacket while reading? Leave it on or take it off? (Question courtesy of Kim from Page after Page)

I am not a fan of dust jackets when I am reading a book. I always take off the jacket and put it away on a shelf so as not to get damaged. When I finish the book, the dust jacket goes right back on. Of course, this isn’t the case when I get books from the library, which I have been doing more frequently. I do find that the library book dust jackets do not bother me because they do not slip and slide.
Now, my husband has a different view. When he gets hard cover books, the dust jacket immediately comes off and goes into the garbage. He likes the look of the naked book on the shelf, so we have a combination of books with dust jackets on our bookshelves and books that are naked.
What about you?
If they are in the way (slipping off), I take them off, but save them!
Oh, I like your husband's idea, although I do not take mine off until after I have read the book once. I love my books naked too!
In the garbage? Oh no! LOL there is such great art work.
(they do tend to get in the way)
